Insurance Defense

Joel’s litigation practice focuses exclusively on insurance defense. Joel works with, advises and defends myriad insurance companies and their insured parties, in matters that range from pre-suit investigation through the appeals process.

Joel’s insurance law acumen is both broad and deep and includes construction defect, premises liability, automobile accidents, professional liability and landlord-tenant litigation.

Prior to joining private practice, Joel served as in-house counsel for a national insurer, where his responsibilities included handling a large volume of claims, including construction defect and personal injury (first-party and third-party), from initial intake through appeal, including discovery, mediation, arbitration, depositions and trial. Having worked in-house for an insurance company, Joel brings first-hand understanding and immediate client perspective to every matter in which he is involved, an important added value to those he represents today.

Thorough in his approach to problem solving and in establishing facts and persuasive arguments, Joel is appreciated for his ability to deescalate even the most stressful discord into a tangible path to resolution both in and out of court – a honed skill that is productive and reassuring while also strategic and results-oriented.
